My Birthday with Mom….was PRICELESS!

Pam’s Page 32 – “Family Life”

My Birthday on Saturday was an absolute blast! The evening was a special time of Church, followed by a Family Gathering at our Home.

However, it was the events before evening that were “PRICELESS”….literally!
Mom and I spent the day shopping, but with our CRAZY humor…it took a strange spin!

I would call our shopping day “PRICELESS” but really “CHEAP-SKATE” would be a more accurate description!

SAVE-ING A BUCK OR TWO? The “Cheapskates” went to IKEA...

(1) We had the $0.99 Breakfast Special (eggs, potatoes and bacon)…cheapest breakfast in town.
(2) Looked at IKEA’s amazing furniture and house hold items…but only picked up napkins and a small set of juice glasses!
(2) IKEA does not provide free sacks at checkout. However, we saved $0.05….by carrying (no sack) our IKEA purchases to the car!

SAVE-ING A BUCK OR TWO? The “Cheapskates” went Consignment Shopping...
We had fun and frolic at the Consignment Clothing Store! We tried on tons of clothes….yet - I spent only $20.00 and Mom spent $32.00 SAVE-ING A BUCK OR TWO? The “Cheapskates” went out to eat...
We chose noon lunch at O’Cucumber Buffet….instead of the 5pm higher priced supper menu!
SAVE-ING A BUCK OR TWO? The “Cheapskates” needed groceries...
We picked up Hamburger Buns at the Wonder Bread Outlet Store, instead of the grocery store!

Needless to say, this was not a normal shopping day in MY life! However…..it was proof – you really don’t need to spend much money if your goal is to have a..........“PRICELESS” Day (tee-hee)!
Thank you Lord for my precious Mother and the many wonderful moments we have shared!

Happy Birthday!

And "cheapskate" shopping isn't all that bad! I found a dress with the price tag still on it at Goodwill once. The dress was originally close to $50 and I got it for just $1.25!! I also love hitting the sales racks at Old Navy and Kohls. You can walk away with some really nice clothes for under $10-20!! Or even shopping those really strange looking stores in the mall. Sometimes you can find really nice stuff for dirt cheap!

When I lived in Memphis, the zoos, museums, and other cool places had certain days/times that were free admission.

I know all y'all live up in the Twin Cities area so if you are ever looking for "free" or "cheap" date ideas with family/friends, check out the Visitor's Info website. They should help direct you to the websites of some places/events that you can go to for free. :) (I know the Como Zoo up there is free to go to)

Dearest Leslie-

Thanks a bunch for the FYI....it's always fun to know where to find a good deal.

As a matter of fact, one of my favorite "Girlfriend" Days...is when a bunch of us hit Consignment Stores all day. Or shop the Wholesale Garment District in L.A.!!!

It's probably equal to the fun guys "say" they have...when they going hunting animals for a day! The difference is....we hunt for good deals, and no one gets HURT! :-)
