White out?

Pam's "Frolic"ONLY-
Hey Girlfriends-
Tomorrow is Labor Day. So it's time for a fun fashion etiquette tip-
Who says you can't wear white after Labor Day?

Actually, said Jacksonville etiquette consultant Diann Catlin, it's white shoes you're not supposed to wear after Labor Day.

"The rule is, after Memorial Day and before Labor Day, you are allowed to wear white shoes. Yes, it is still the rule," Catlin said. "A lot of people think it is white clothes. That is not true."

As far as proper etiquette is concerned, men and women can wear white or "winter white" after Labor Day. But proper dressers will wear linen fabrics only in the summer and velvets only in the winter.

Aside from being practical -- it just wouldn't make sense to wear a dark outfit in the heat of a Florida summer -- the etiquette rules are about showing respect.

"The only reason these rules are important is for your image," Catlin said. "If I showed up on Feb. 1 in a white linen suit, you'd think this person does not know what she's doing. What happens is that people notice that you just don't know any better."

There are a few exceptions to the no-white-shoes-after-Labor-Day rule. Tennis players and brides are given some slack.

However, all this information is just a fashion tip! The most important thing to wear is always - YOUR SMILE!
